Food Safety Symposium Promotes International Dialogue

A One Health Food Safety Symposium held on the UC Davis campus, April 14-16, brought faculty together from Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) and the University of California at Davis.

FST students teach middle school girls the fun of food science

On Saturday, April 25, several graduate students in FST participated in the annual STEM for Girls event. This event, now in its third year, was started as an effort to get middle school aged girls from nearby communities interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Beer from FST student winners of Iron Brew contest brewed at Sudwerk

Four UC Davis students in Charlie Bamforths Practical Malting and Brewing class earned more than good grades for their final project a beer called Class is in Session IPA. They earned a chance to work with Sudwerk Brewing Co. and produce their winning recipe on a commercial scale.

Winkler Dinner raises funds for enology, viticulture activities

The 15th annual Winkler Dinner, a fundraiser for the UC Davis viticulture and enology department, is planned for Saturday, May 16, in the olive grove at the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine & Food Science on campus.

The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center's magazine explores whether imbalances in gastrointestinal bacteria raise the risk for cancer and if restoring that balance be the key to preventing it. The research of Dr. David Mills and Dr. Carolyn Slupsky is helping to answer those questions.
