Iron Brew Undergrad Winners Featured on UC Davis News/Dateline

Congratulations to Iron Brew Competition winners (and FST Brewing Science undergrads) Baoluo Gao, Charlie Thudium, Andres Rugama, and Eitan Newfield, who along with Anheuser-Busch Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences Dr. Glen Fox, made the UC Davis main News page and are featured in Dateline UC Davis.  The beer from the winning team is on sale now at supporting brewing partner Sudwerk, and in stores next week after August 3rd (details in article).

FST Team takes 2nd place in 30th Annual IFTSA & Mars Product Development Competition

Congratulations to UC Davis Food Science and Technology's Faba Friends Product Development Team for winning second place in the 30th Annual IFTSA & Mars Product Development Competition!   The competition was part of SHIFT20 (IFT’s virtual annual expo, held June 22-23rd).  The team consisted of recent graduates Kat Fernandez (team captain), Josh Bjurman, Jacqueline Yee, and Amanda Ting, and 4th year undergraduates Mirai Miura, Andy Leung, Myhan Nguyen, and Thomas Nguyen. 

FST Emeritus John Bruhn Celebrates 50-year IFT Member Anniversary

John C. Bruhn, FST Cooperative Extension Specialist Emeritus, is celebrating his 50-year anniversary as an IFT member.  As related by IFT's Margaret Malochleb in the June, 2020 issue of Food Technology magazine, "For John Bruhn, extension specialist emeritus at the University of California, Davis, IFT has been a part of his life since his university days. “IFT captured my attention first when I was awarded the IFT Gerber Scholarship as a junior (1957) and senior (1958) at Michigan State University,” he says.
