Ben Golomb was awarded the Max Kleiber Graduate Research Award

Ben Golomb, a recent FSGG PhD graduate and member of the Marco lab, was just awarded the Max Kleiber Graduate Research Prize for his PhD thesis, and will be acknowledged at the 2016 Graduate Studies Honors and Awards Ceremony on May 23. One of Bens thesis research papers was just published in Nature Scientific Reports. This paper shows how probiotic Lactobacillus and the indigenous microbiota adapt for growth in the small intestine. Congratulations Ben!

Simmons Lab student wins Arla Foods Fellowship

The Arla Food Fellowship was awarded to Ryan Dowdy, a second year doctoral student in the Department of Food Science and Technology. Ryan works in the laboratory of Professor Christopher Simmons. Ryan's research project will combine renewable desalination of dairy waste streams with improved membrane technology. He will receive $40,000 from Arla Foods to support one year of his research.
