Dr. Josephine Ampofo, Dr. Fernanda F.G. Dias, and Ph.D. Candidate Erika Estrada Awarded Professors for the Future Fellowships

The 2022-2023 cohort of the Professors of the Future program includes one graduate student from the Food Science Graduate Group and two postdoctoral scholars from the Department of Food Science and Technology. The program fosters leadership skills in outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to prepare them for successful careers in an increasingly competitive professional environment. As part of the program, fellows design and execute projects to enhance the professional development of their peers.

Margaret Lawson creates Scholarship & Fellowship for FST Undergrad and Graduate Students

In recognition of the value of her UC Davis Food Science degrees, Alumna Margaret Lawson ’77, MS ’79, has made an estate commitment to create the Margaret A. Lawson Scholarship for undergraduate students in food science, and the Margaret A. Lawson Fellowship to support graduate students in food science. These funds will be endowed in perpetuity to support and encourage generations of UC Davis students seeking food science degrees.

FST doctoral student wins Danone national fellowship

Congratulations are in order for Nick Jensen, a doctoral student in the Mills lab (Micro Grad Group), who just was recently a national fellowship for $25K from Danone North America.

The fellowship was designed for full-time graduate students in the United States. To be eligible, students had to be US citizens and remain in good standing with their university. 

Summer Data Science Fellowship Opportunity - begins 6/1/15

The Data Incubator is an intensive 7 week fellowship that prepares masters, PhDs, and postdocs in STEM + social science fields seeking industry careers as data scientists. The program is free for fellows and supported by sponsorships from dozens of employers across multiple industries.

2013-2014 ACS Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (AGFD) Awards

The Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division (AGFD) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is proud to offer five awards for 2013-2014. These awards are geared towards undergraduate students (1 award), graduate students (2 awards) as well as young scientists (1 award) and seasoned professionals (1 award) doing research in the field of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. The AGFD Awards are as follows: The Undergraduate Student Research Symposium Award  The application deadline is October 31, 2013. The Withycombe-Charalambous Graduate Student Symposium Award  The application deadline is October 31, 2013. The Teranishi Graduate Fellowship  The application deadline is February 1, 2014. The Young Scientist Award Symposium  The application deadline is April 1, 2014. The Award for Advancement of Application of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (AGFD Award)  The application deadline is February 15, 2014.
