Please join Food Science and Technology's Maria Marco for interdisciplinary discussions on how food fermentation science intersects with fundamental questions on Indigenous food sovereignty, performance, and feminist science studies. The free virtual series, held biweekly from Jan. 28th to March 11, is offered through the UC Davis Humanities Institute Transcollege Cluster on Radical and Relational Approaches to Fermentation and Food Sovereignty.

Mariah Mier wins IFT's IFTPS - Irving Pflug Memorial Scholarship for 2020

Mariah Mier, a 3rd year undergraduate in Food Science and Technology, was awarded the IFT Feeding Tomorrow Foundation’s Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists – Irving Pflug Memorial Scholarship for 2020.  The Feeding Tomorrow scholarships enrich students' lives by making it possible to focus on their studies and extend their experience beyond the classroom with internships or travel scholarships, and contribute to the Feeding Tomorrow Foundation’s mission of attracting, retaining, and celebrating the creative and innovative minds of future food scientists, with a goal of ensurin

Iron Brew Undergrad Winners Featured on UC Davis News/Dateline

Congratulations to Iron Brew Competition winners (and FST Brewing Science undergrads) Baoluo Gao, Charlie Thudium, Andres Rugama, and Eitan Newfield, who along with Anheuser-Busch Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences Dr. Glen Fox, made the UC Davis main News page and are featured in Dateline UC Davis.  The beer from the winning team is on sale now at supporting brewing partner Sudwerk, and in stores next week after August 3rd (details in article).

FST Team takes 2nd place in 30th Annual IFTSA & Mars Product Development Competition

Congratulations to UC Davis Food Science and Technology's Faba Friends Product Development Team for winning second place in the 30th Annual IFTSA & Mars Product Development Competition!   The competition was part of SHIFT20 (IFT’s virtual annual expo, held June 22-23rd).  The team consisted of recent graduates Kat Fernandez (team captain), Josh Bjurman, Jacqueline Yee, and Amanda Ting, and 4th year undergraduates Mirai Miura, Andy Leung, Myhan Nguyen, and Thomas Nguyen.
