Congratulations to the 2022 Viticulture and Enology Scholarship & Award Recipients

Congratulations to all students who received scholarships and awards this year. Scholarship winners were celebrated on Friday, June 10, 2022, during the Department of Viticulture and Enology graduation ceremony. The Department is grateful to the generous donors who make these opportunities possible.

The Department of Viticulture and Enology awarded the following students with department citations at the end of the 2021-22 academic year.

On Friday, June 10, the Department of Viticulture and Enology hosted a graduation and award ceremony for graduating bachelor’s and master’s students.

Department of Viticulture and Enology Chair and Professor, David Block, got the festivities started and Andy Walker, Professor Emeritus, was the graduation speaker.

Art and research intersect within the Department of Food Science and Technology

Peaches, grapes, tomatoes and olives – some of California’s specialty crops that have been the subject of numerous research projects at UC Davis are also a prominent feature in a colorful art display at the home of the Department of Food Science and Technology.

A large vinyl display was recently unveiled in the Robert Mondavi Institute (RMI) complex. It was created using images of three historical batik cloth panels that depict California agricultural motifs.

There’s a buzz in the air when students are brewing a batch of beer at UC Davis’ state-of-the-art brewing facility, the Anheuser Busch InBev Brewery. Joe Williams, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Endowed Brewer, is featured in episode four of Thought/Space, a CA&ES video series about the special places that faculty, staff and students have found at UC Davis.

UC Davis Students Create and Sell Iron Brew winning Scottish Ale

The team of four UC Davis students who won this year's Iron Brew competition are now selling their prizewinning ale, which they have named, "Mighty Gale Ale".
