FST 109 Industry Guest Seminars - May 2023

The course FST 109 "Principles of Quality Assurance in Food Processing” is offering a series of seminars this Spring 2023. Four industry quality assurance and food safety leaders will share their career path with our students. These seminars are open to everyone in the department.

The seminars will be offered every Friday in May 2023 (May 5, 12, 19, and 26) from 10 AM to 11 AM PDT

Department Special Seminar, April 6, 2023

UC Davis Food Science and Technology and the UC Davis Innovation Institute for Food and Health are pleased to announce that Vayu Maini Rekdal, Ph.D., Miller Institute Fellow, UC Berkeley, will be speaking on Thursday, April 6th from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. You are invited to attend the seminar, “Harnessing Microbial Metabolism for Human Health, Flavor, and Sustainability” via Zoom (in-person registration is now full). 

Course Profile: VEN 170, Wine Regulations

This one-credit course covers regulations in the wine industry, including regulation at the local, state, and federal levels. We cover this material with the help of outside speakers in a seminar style. Topics that are covered include regulation by the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FDA/FSMA), as it applies to grapes and wine.

FST Professor Maria Marco will be featured on Science Café Wednesday, December 14th, in a conversation with Professor Jared Shaw titled "Eat Your Microbes! What are Fermented Foods and Why Do we Eat Them?" The event is at G Street Wunderbar, 228 G Street, downtown Davis at 5:30 pm.
