Luis Diaz-Garcia, Assistant Professor, has been named a CAMPOS Faculty Scholar for 2022-23. The Center for the Advancement of Multicultural Perspectives on Science (CAMPOS) was established in 2012 to expand the presence of women and underrepresented faculty in STEM at UC Davis. CAMPOS Faculty Scholars have a clearly articulated vision of how their work at UC Davis will contribute to the University’s mission of serving the needs of the diverse student population which closely reflects the population of the state of California. Luis was inducted as a scholar on November 4th at a ceremony at the Manetti Shrem Museum: https://diversity.ucdavis.edu/news/campos-and-campssah-induct-faculty-scholars  


Congratulations to Viticulture & Enology and Food Science & Technology Professor David Mills for being identified as a highly cited researcher by Clarivate™! The annual Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list released by the Clarivate Web of Science Group compiles statistics on scientific publishing. The list identifies scientists and social scientists who have published multiple papers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations in a particular field and year, over a 10-year period. Congratulations to Anita Oberholster (UC Davis), Elizabeth Tomasino (Oregon State University) and Tom Collins (Washington State University) for winning Wine Enthusiast’s 2022 Wine Star Award for Innovator of the Year. Marko Zaninovich, a 1964 UC Davis College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences graduate, is a leader in the table grape industry and was the first to bring that American crop to the Chinese market. Three new members were recently elected to the Executive Leadership Board (ELB) of the Department of Viticulture and Enology: Amanda Kent Benjamin, Senior Manager at Bain & Company; David Deming, Partner at Bain & Company, and Ron Rubin, Owner of Ron Rubin Winery. The Executive Leadership Board (ELB) is an important and influential advisory group for the UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology.  Composed of invited industry leaders, educators, wine appreciators and selected friends and colleagues, ELB members lend expert counsel and assistance to the Department in setting and accomplishing its long-range strategic goals.
