The Phaff Yeast Culture Collection will be on display in the Fifth Annual UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day, Saturday February 13, 2016. Exhibits will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the first floor teaching labs in the Earth and Physical Sciences building just north of RMI, down the hall from the Paleontology exhibits and across the street from the Entomology and Wildlife museums' exhibits. At the Phaff collection exhibits, visitors can learn about yeasts in fermented food and beverages, the importance of yeast in basic and applied research, the history and contents of the collection, and cutting-edge research made possible by the broad biodiversity preserved in the yeast collection over the last 120 years.

This is a very family-friendly event, and also a great chance to learn about the teaching, research and outreach activities of 11 campus collections. Admission is free, parking is free, and food vendors will be on site. For more information, including a map and a schedule of open hours for each collection, visit biodiversitymuseumday.ucdavis.edu.
