The 13th In Vino Analytica Scientia (IVAS) Conference was held in Davis, California, July 9-12, 2024. The conference featured an opening plenary lecture by Dr. Fulvio Mattivi of the Edmund Mach Foundation, Michele all’Adige, Italy. Keynote speakers and submitted oral and poster presentations covered six conference themes:
- Oxidation, aroma, phenol chemistry and wine aging
- Nontargeted analysis and chemometrics
- Chemical analysis of grapes, wines, spirits, and by-products
- Biotechnology and microbiology
- Sensory analysis and wine styles
- Genetic approaches toward better grape and wine quality
In addition to featuring the latest research in the analytical sciences for grapes, wines, brandy, and spirits, the attendees had opportunities for networking, experiencing wines from across the United States, and visiting University of California, Davis campus facilities focused on viticulture and enology. During a post-conference excursion to Napa Valley, participants toured wineries, met UC Davis alumni working in the wine industry, and visited research vineyards at the UC Davis Oakville Experiment Station in the heart of the Valley.

The 14th In Vino Analytica Scientia Conference in 2026 is planned for Dijon, France, hosted by Institut Universitaire de la Vigne et du Vin-Jules Guyot, Université Bourgogne.
