A huge congratulations to Donpon (Dawn) Wannasin on her being awarded the prestigious and competitive IFT Feeding Tomorrow Fund Dr. Elwood F. Caldwell Graduate Fellowship! Dawn, a first-year Ph.D. student in Selina Wang's lab, was awarded the $25,000 fellowship for her research which focuses on the extraction and characterization of phenolic compounds and other important bioactives in agricultural and food byproducts for potential food and supplement application to improve human and planetary health.

I’m truly grateful to receive the Dr. Elwood F. Caldwell Graduate Fellowship, which will greatly support me in pursuing research on upcycling bioactive compounds from food and agricultural byproducts in California. I would like to thank the IFT Feeding Tomorrow Fund for providing this opportunity for graduate students conducting research in food science, as well as my PI, Dr. Selina C. Wang, and the Wang Lab members for their guidance and support at the early stage of my research. -Dawn Wannasin

Undergraduate student Fangni Wu also won a Gateway Scholarship Non-Higher Education Review Board (Non-HERB) award of $1,500. Again, congratulations all around!
