Topic: Gasification of Biomass in Supercritical Water

Abstract 

Dr. Venkitasamy will present the results of the research conducted at the University of Missouri, Columbia, on gasification of biomass in supercritical water. This study was done to find the effect of gasification conditions on gas yield and gas composition for various biomass samples using a batch reactor. The design of a continuous reactor for gasification of biomass in supercritical water and gasification of glucose and algae in continuous reactor was also performed. 

Bio 

Dr. Venkitasamy holds a Masters and PhD degree in Agricultural Processing from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India, and a Second Masters degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He has worked as a scientist with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for 8 years at different places in India before moving to the USA. Currently he works as a Postdoctoral Scholar with Dr. Zhongli Pan.
