Selina Wang first became famous for her detective work on olive oil quality.  In the last few years, she and her lab have been doing similar work on avocado oil quality, uncovering a multitude of crimes such as adulteration and mislabeling.

At the end of August, The Washington Post ran a story, "Why your avocado oil may be fake and contain other cheap oils". (The article is free to read, but requires the reader to enter their email account to register.) (Non-paywall link via archive.ph).  The story was first reported by UC Davis news in May 2023, "Nearly 70% of Private Label Avocado Oil Rancid or Mixed With Other Oils".  The 2023 UC Davis article has been updated to include recent test results.  If you love avocados, this is a must-read!
