A team of undergraduate students from UC Davis placed within the top ten in the 2016 ASABE Robotics Competition at the annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. 

This competition required the construction of a fully automated robotic system designed to simulate the picking and transfer of citrus fruits from the field to the processing plant. Two mobile robots were designed by the students with one to pick the fruits and transfer them to the other robot, which then had to move the fruits to their final destination (processing plant). The robotic system also had to sort the fruit by color indicating fruit ripeness. The main emphasis was to design and successfully implement a cooperative, harvesting robot. 

Team members included Vivian Vuong, Matthew Paddock, Channing Ko-Madden, Drew Liu, Joshua Munic , Kenneth Cunningham, and Cameo Tsui from Biological and Agricultural Engineering, and Mark Wong, Maxfield Herrenbruck, and Bryce Phelps from Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The team was advised by Prof. David Slaughter in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
