UC Davis Chancellor Gary May visited the Anheuser Busch InBev Pilot Brewery on February 3rd at the invitation of Glen Fox, FST's Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences, to visit with students enjoying a brewing class on-site as classes have resumed in-person.

The class was the senior-level, hands-on "Practical Malting and Brewing" class FST102B. It’s the class that brews their own recipes to be judged for the IronBrew competition. The winning recipe is brewed by Sudwerk Brewing Company and sold commercially as the IronBrew.  "It is the only such collaboration that we know of in the United States", says Glen Fox.

The Chancellor noted the unique value of the brewery and our brewing program to students and the broader brewing industry.

“I am heartened by the experiential learning afforded by the brewery, especially during the past five weeks of evolving instructional policy” - Chancellor May

A sincere thank-you to Chancellor May for visiting the class in what certainly has been a transition time for learning, teaching, and work for our entire community.
