Each year the Boundy-Mills lab makes a piece of artwork, using yeast cultures of various colors from the Phaff Yeast Culture Collection streaked onto agar plates. 

This year junior specialist Lauren Enriquez created a lovely piece inspired by "Composition with Large Red Plane, Yellow, Black, Gray, and Blue," an abstract oil painting by Piet Mondrian. Lauren's artwork is titled "Composition with Geotrichum, Sporidiobolus, Cryptococcus, Pichia and Rhodotorula". (These are yeast genus names.) 

This artwork is being printed on greeting cards, and will be sent out to about 200 customers, collaborators and stakeholders of the Phaff collection.
