New Connexxus Initiative

Connexxus LogoJust like the stock market, airfares can rise or fall based on demand. To take advantage of periodic fare drops, the Airfare Price Drop Protection, offered through BCD Travel is an automated system programmed to check for lower fares during the first 24 hours after ticketing when no airline change fees apply. It is also during this period when most savings are realized and UC could see net savings up to 8% on reissued tickets, and an estimated annual savings of $82K.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How does the program work?
o Once a ticket has been booked, the program automatically checks for a lower fare on the same itinerary and in the same class of service through the void period. If a lower fare is found, the system voids the original ticket and reissues are new one.
2. Is there a minimum ticket amount that will qualify for a price adjustment?
o In order to ensure savings beyond transaction fees necessary to rebook a ticket, at least $50 in fare savings will have to be met before the program will activate a reissue.

3. How will the traveler know what is going on?
o An email will be sent to the traveler notifying them of the lower fare and provide them with the new ticket number, airline record locator, and an updated e-ticket itinerary.
4. How will charges be reflected?
o Credit card statements will show a credit (if the original ticket charge posted) and the new, lower charge, will be processed within ten business days. Transactions fees will be posted separately.

It is our hope that this feature will build traveler confidence and reduce the temptation to book outside Connexxus. If you have any questions about this program, please contact us at uctravel@ucop.edu
