Carolina Conte, Food Science graduate and new M.S. graduate student, was featured on the Capital Bank podcast “Cero Panama – Impulsa” on October 25th.  Conte and her business partner were interviewed about what makes their business (called Cero) unique and the challenges of promoting conscious consumption and sustainable food production in Panama.

Conte shares, “The interview was a productive conversation about the challenges of implementing a business that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. We discussed the challenges of staying within a circular economy in a culture that is accustomed to extractive consumption habits, especially around food and conventional agriculture.”

Cero's mission is to educate and provide alternative solutions for everyday consumption habits that maximize human health while respecting planetary boundaries. We highlight the importance of agricultural producers that adopt responsible production practices and offer their products in the market under a zero waste model, connecting them directly to their consumers and vice versa."- Carolina Conte
