In late June, FST's Dr. Ned Spang presented at the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) Conference in Chicago on "Estimating the Energy and Greenhouse Gas Savings from Urban Water Conservation". 

The focus of the presentation was sharing the web-based software tool that we have developed at the Center for Water-Energy Efficiency to trace the energy flows through urban water infrastructure. The tool allows water and energy utilities to work together to estimate the water, energy, greenhouse gas, and cost savings that can be achieved via hypothetical water conservation scenarios that vary by location and/or customer type.
