Marco on Science Café, December 14th, 2022

FST Professor Maria Marco will be featured on Science Café Wednesday, December 14th, in a conversation with Professor Jared Shaw titled "Eat Your Microbes! What are Fermented Foods and Why Do we Eat Them?" The event is at G Street Wunderbar, 228 G Street, downtown Davis at 5:30 pm.  

Glen Fox receives Outstanding Service Award from UC Davis CPE

FST's Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences, Dr. Glen Fox, received an Outstanding Service Award for 2022 from UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE).  The award celebrates the dedication, enthusiasm, excellent teaching and service by the instructors on behalf of UC Davis CPE.  The awards were presented at the Outstanding Service Awards and Instructor Appreciation Reception on September 8th.  

$4 Million Endowment Bolsters UC Davis Viticulture and Enology

The University of California, Davis, Department of Viticulture and Enology has received a $4 million endowment that will provide support in perpetuity for the kind of research and education that has made the department world renowned in its field.

The endowment, given anonymously, will fund unique projects that use and further develop analytical tools, advanced technologies and techniques, and equipment.

Department Seminar Series - May 11, 2022

You are invited to attend the Food Science department seminar on Wednesday May 11, 2022 at 4:10 PM PDT. For the remainder of this quarter, the first year Food Science graduate students will present their research. This is a great way to see what is going on in other labs.

Avocado Oil Short Course, August 4 - 9th, 2022

FST's Dr. Selina Wang and three instructors from New Zealand, pictured at right, are pleased to present their first Avocado Oil Short Course for FST Cooperative Extension. The course includes six pre-recorded lectures and one live-Zoom question-and-answer session with the instructors (with a choice of three dates in August for the Q&A session).

Dr. Josephine Ampofo, Dr. Fernanda F.G. Dias, and Ph.D. Candidate Erika Estrada Awarded Professors for the Future Fellowships

The 2022-2023 cohort of the Professors of the Future program includes one graduate student from the Food Science Graduate Group and two postdoctoral scholars from the Department of Food Science and Technology. The program fosters leadership skills in outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to prepare them for successful careers in an increasingly competitive professional environment. As part of the program, fellows design and execute projects to enhance the professional development of their peers.
