While the human population swells - especially in parts of the world where there is more poverty, disease, famine, and political instability - we must continue finding innovative ways to achieve global health goals.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is transitioning from its traditional paper and pencil based assessments to a technology-based assessment administered via tablet for all assessments by 2017. Building on the foundation of NAEP as the gold standard in large-scale student assessment, NAEPs goal is to leverage technology to continue its role as a leader and innovator in the field.

Public policies intended to improve the health and well-being of disadvantaged communities require the ability to identify their specific location and conditions. Two new data and mapping tools developed by the UC Davis Center for Regional Change, the Regional Opportunity Index and Putting Youth on the Map, offer policy makers, businesses, and community organizations this ability.
