University of California hires four viticulture advisors

Four new viticulture farm advisors were hired in the past year by the University of California to serve in San Joaquin Valley Extension office positions. These farm advisors cover the vast wine, table and raisin grape growing region that includes the counties of Kern, Kings, Tulare, Fresno, Madera, Merced and Mariposa.

ASEV Best Enology Paper 2015

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) has selected the 2015 Best Paper Awards, with the generous support of J. Lohr Vineyards. The selected authors will be recognized at the Societys 66th National Conference on June 15-19 in Portland, Oregon. 
The best enology paper was awarded to University of California, Davis, researchers Nicholas L. Shrake, Rajeevan Amirtharajah, Charles Brenneman, Roger Boulton and André Knoesen for In-Line Measurement of Color and Total Phenolics During Red Wine Fermentations Using a Light-Emitting Diode Sensor. 

BFTV cluster embraces Green Workplace Initiative

UC Davis is promoting "Green Offices" and "Green Laboratories" in the Gateway neighborhood, and each lab group and administrative unit have an opportunity to join the program. The Departments of Food Science and Viticulture & Enology, and the Administrative Offices of the BFTV Cluster are working to become certified.
