The Department of Food Science and Technology at UC Davis is thriving!

- Ten outstanding new faculty have joined the department in the past four years with more on the way.
- 300 students are pursuing a B.S. degree in Food Science alongside nearly 80 students in the Food Science Graduate Group.
- The student College Bowl team made it to the national competition for the Institute of Food Technologists for the second year in a row.
- Food Science student Ana Skomal won a Fulbright Grant to work in Malaysia.

Contribute to our success:

Donations made to the Department of Food Science and Technology support continued excellence. Donations help fund student travel to national competitions, launch new faculty careers and purchase relevant equipment for the food science teaching laboratories at the Robert Mondavi Institute.

Pete Mattson, a friend of the Department and founder of the food product development company Mattson, Inc, gave $50,000 to Food Science and Technology along with a big challenge: to match his gift with other donations. Starting on UC Davis' first-ever "Give Day" in April, alumni and friends have been stepping up with contributions of all sizes.

Already, we're over halfway to our ambitious stretch goal of matching Pete's generosity dollar for dollar.

You can be part of this effort by making a gift online.
