David Reid FST mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus David Reid
The Department was saddened to hear of Reid's passing on August 15. Dr. Reid had been retired since 2008, but remained active on campus with CIFAR. He also sat on scientific advisory committees and was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.

Zhang and others BAE Professor Ruihong Zhang named as ASABE Fellow
At the annual meeting of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in July, Dr. Ruihong Zhang was named a Fellow of the organization for her outstanding contributions in the areas of waste conversion, bioenergy, and biofuel production.

Dr. Ben Montpetit is the Department's newest Assistant Professor, a Microbiologist/Yeast Biologist.

Harris Dr. Linda Harris begins term as department chair
Cooperative Extension Specialist Dr. Linda Harris is FST's newest department chair. She began her five-year term on July 1, replacing Professor Mike McCarthy who retired on June 29.
