The first public genome sequence for Coffea arabica, the species responsible for more than 70 percent of global coffee production, was released by researchers at the University of California, Davis including VEN Associate Professor Dario Cantu.

Dr. O'Mahony will receive his award for excellence within the sensory and consumer sciences field at IFT '17 in Las Vegas this coming June.

Assistant Professors Ned Spang and Christopher Simmons were recently awarded a grant for $3.16M from the California Energy Commission for the project "Demonstrating the Potential for On-Site Electricity Generation from Food Waste Using Containerized Anaerobic Digestion Units".
BAE mourns the loss of Professor Emeritus William Chancellor
Professor Emeritus William Chancellor died on February 16. His family was with him and he died peacefully. He was 85.
